Watch: Crucial New CMP Mini-Films – And My Conversation with Bill McKibben
Our new Climate Majority Project film, Britain Speaks!, is now live – and it makes a simple but powerful point. It contrasts recreated vox-pops of people in the 1930s downplaying the threat from Hitler with equally complacent reactions to climate breakdown today. The parallel is sharp, and uncomfortable: when a society underestimates a mounting danger, it delays the mobilisation needed to meet it. This short film, made by award-winning filmmaker and CMP friend Guy Ducker, captures that truth with real clarity. Please watch it – and share it widely.
I’m also delighted to share that the Climate Majority Project has just released a new short film which I co-narrate, An Uninsurable World, examining how climate breakdown is destabilising the global insurance sector. I’ve long argued that insurance is the canary in the coal mine of big finance. Unlike much of the financial world, it must think in decades, not quarters – and it is already sounding the alarm. As rising climate impacts drive up risk, large parts of the world are quietly becoming uninsurable. I’d encourage you to watch the film and share it, especially with anyone working in or around the insurance industry.
Finally, another new release is Climate Crossroads: Why We Haven’t Acted – And What Must Happen Now, a long-form conversation hosted by John Izzo. I join Bill McKibben and Brian McLaren to explore why, despite everything we know, humanity has struggled to act at the speed and scale required – and what it will take to change that. It’s a frank but ultimately hopeful discussion, and I’m pleased to be part of it.
Please watch, like, comment and share all of my videos, but particularly these news ones from the CMP – it really does help with their success. Thank you, as always, for reading and for your support.
