Tuvalu’s doom: when an entire country goes underwater
Last week I appeared on TRT World (a Turkish public broadcasting station) to discuss the effects of climate breakdown on Tuvalu. Over 90 percent of the South Pacific island nation’s landmass is expected to be submerged by the end of the century, and in response Australia has introduced the world’s first climate change visa for Tuvaluans. Over 1,000 people have already applied — representing more than a third of the entire population with their families.
