SAFER building on a strong start

A few weeks have passed since the SAFER campaign launch at University College London and I’m still buzzing from the energy we sparked together. Our aim – to build a national climate resilience plan – is gaining real traction, and I’m filled with hope about what we can achieve if we stay focused and continue pushing.

Reflections on the SAFER launch

The conversation with Caroline Lucas at UCL resonated deeply, highlighting how much people – and policymakers – want a strategic, funded and community-led adaptation approach. It’s clear that this isn’t niche: it matters here and now.

If you missed it, you can watch the full event on YouTube. If you prefer a quick summary, there are also two-minute highlights.

Petition update: Help us get to 4,000 signatures

Our petition – calling on the UK government to fund a national climate resilience plan (yes, Chris Packham and George Monbiot are backing it) – has already reached over 3,600 signatures. Let’s work towards 4,000, and beyond the 10,000 that would trigger a formal government response.

Please do sign and share the petition. Every signature matters.

More on why SAFER matters

In case you didn’t see it, Caroline and I have also teamed up on an article for Byline Supplement, explaining why strategic adaptation must become a policy priority, and how resilience is literally a matter of life and death given the threats communities now face: read the full article on the Byline website.

Our message is simple: adaptation isn’t optional – it’s urgent. And resilience is built, not imagined. Thank you for your energy, your voices, and your belief in a safer future.
