Dear Readers,

I wrote this from London, where I was speaking at the NGIN X BIN – SUSTAIN FESTIVAL, and the ‘Sustainable Insurance Summit’ engaging with key players in the insurance industry on the intersection of climate and risk. It was an urgent and fascinating discussion, and I’d love to bring you into it.

One of the central issues I addressed is the growing gap in insurance coverage as climate-related risks increase. The industry is facing hard choices: will it retreat from riskier areas, leaving communities and businesses exposed, or will it push for systemic adaptation and policy reform? The reality is stark—without urgent and transformative action, insurance could become increasingly unavailable, exacerbating social and economic instability.

Here is a post from me on this that you may wish to dive into, should this be an area which interests you.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you concerned about the future of insurance in the face of climate breakdown? Do you feel the industry is doing enough? Do you have any connections in this space?

Meanwhile, I also want to take a moment to thank those who joined us at the Climate Majority event in London the weekend before last. We had around 60 attendees and a huge amount of enthusiasm for action. If you missed it, don’t worry—there will be more opportunities to get involved. I’ll keep you posted on upcoming events, or you can sign up directly for our mailing list.

Best,

Rupert Read
